Beaches

Our beach portfolio team is responsible for ensuring that our beaches and tidal pools remain clean, organised, safe and inviting to all.

The group works by liaising with the relevant city authorities and other interested parties, to maintain the state of our coastline, from supporting regular clean-ups to the management of beach facilities.

They strive to maintain the natural beauty of our shoreline and to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for swimmers, surfers, families and tourists while endeavouring to preserve the renowned biodiversity our rocky shore.

Our work encompasses the shoreline from St James Tidal Pool in the north to Woolies Tidal Pool in the south.

My background is in public health, now semi-retired. I have a long association with Kalk Bay as my mom was born here and I used to spend my December school holidays staying with my granny, who used to own Kob Cottage in Harris Road. I learnt to swim in the Station Pools and my first movies were at the Olympia. I love the sea and swim mainly at Danger Beach, Harbour Beach and Dalebrook as well as the mountains, where I hike regularly. I have now lived in Kalk Bay since 2008 and although a relative newcomer am keen to make it a better place for all.
