Infrastructure

Our Infrastructure Portfolio team is responsible for maintaining and improving the essential infrastructure of our village, including roads, pavements and stairs.

This group works to ensure our pathways are safe, accessible and well-maintained.

They strive to keep our community running smoothly and efficiently by recording infrastructure damage, wear and tear and malfunction.

They keep a watchful brief on repairs and upgrades, thus ensuring the quality and safety of our village infrastructure.

Rex Schelling

Rex has a business background and a willing member in our community to assist in making sure our infrastructure is properly maintained by council.

Eve Sandler

Eve has a background in education, energy research and the arts. She participates actively in the Infrastructure portfolio with a particular focus on the issues around Dalebrook, Rosmead, Quarterdeck and Lever roads.

Bert Stafford

Born and educated in UK.
Obtained degree in Civil Engineering.
Worked for 2 years in Victoria London in a civil design office.
Then one year in Western Sudan on a construction project.
Two and a half years on civil and diving work on a harbour project in Ghana.
One year in the scottish highlands building nuclear warhead storage bunkers in the mountains.
3 years on the Tilbury Docks container project including river intake works.
2 years in Zambia on a railway workshop project where I married my wife Anne, also a Brit.
Came to Cape Town just over 50 years ago and started a family.
Worked for myself as a civil contractor mainly on structures in the Cape area.
Came to St James about 36 years ago where I joined the Ratepayers, looking after security.
Served on the SRA Board since inception.
Now retired!
